In Mark 14, Jesus demonstrates His sovereignty over the events that are about to transpire. Knowing this, it is still a painful episode in his life as we see in the Garden of Gethsemane. The abandonment, the betrayal and his foreknowledge conspire to paint a picture of Jesus who (1) identifies with the pain of our lives, (2) offers grace for the 'abandoners and betrayers' and (3) marches toward the purpose of God in His death and resurrection.
